The Vibe

Bernie shares his pad, a beachside delight, with his two humans. (What a generous pooch he is). Being a stone’s throw from a pristine, secluded cove in Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, and set high among native trees overlooking Port Phillip Bay, the brief called for a home that balances coastal vibes with some serious luxury. Like the quiet, locals-only beach that Bernie scampers over as the sun rises, this house is a secret beauty.

Views for days

The expansive glass façade, running over 30 metres long, faces north towards the water – a no-brainer focal point for all living areas (inside and out) and the master bedroom. Morning light pours in as soon as the sun peaks over the horizon. Moonas swaying and the seasons changing, the natural setting is forever an evolving art piece. The effect is a calm retreat, a city escape, a home to just be.

coastal charm

White on white on subtly eclectic features creates a clean, sophisticated, classic palette. White doors, white hardware. White walls, white handrail. Brass hardware, silver vein cut travertine, abstract forms and tiny colour pops. A central pod, separating two living areas, is clad in white lining boards. You’ll spot the travertine fireplace in the main entertaining area, move past the powder room and storage, then discover a discreet bar in the second living space.

A favourite Ritual

Daily walks are treasured by human and hound alike. We designed a puppy shower to sit between the garage and laundry, so that coming home from the beach is as easy as pie. Bernie avoids a cold garden hosing, and his humans avoid sand being spread throughout the house. Doesn’t get much better.
