Bronze Valley crafts an idyllic family home in Victoria’s south-west; a ‘chosen space’ for the kids to bring their friends, a welcoming place for entertaining, and a restful sanctuary to unwind.
The interior language was shaped to reflect the family’s most cherished global outposts and travel destinations. To create a home that felt like their Australian base, but also reference their journeys abroad. The structured elegance of the kitchen and formal lounge recalls London’s classic architecture, while the relaxed spirit of life in the Caribbean inspired playful spaces, such as the pool house.

These global influences come to life through a sophisticated yet daring material palette. Venetian plaster, patinaed brass and bronze, linen drapery, herringbone timber floors, and richly figured natural stone establish a timeless foundation, while vibrant bursts of Moroccan Zellige tiling, lacquered joinery, and bold carpets inject individuality.
Each atmosphere is enhanced by bespoke details that celebrate artisanal design. From the main living space, robust stone shelving articulates dual reveals through to the kitchen and wine room, while opposite, a bespoke stair handrail delicately scales the double-height volume.
A dramatic, double-height lounge anchors the home’s two wings, with a fireplace wall and console reinforcing the sense of arrival.
Thoughtful curation of furniture and art throughout the home, while seamlessly combining a selection of the clients’ existing sentimental pieces. Works by French artist Damien de Medeiros of Hermentaire take pride of place in the formal lounge, kitchen and master bedroom. Whilst the ‘Saint Marc’ rug from our own collection, grounds the space.
To the east, a kitchen, scullery and cellar form an elegant entertaining space with valley views.
Oil-treated brass, executed by local craftsman Ore Design, lines the kitchen’s finely detailed rear cabinetry—the result of numerous samples and prototypes.
The marble island embraces a sculptural tone, with sweeping curves expertly shaped by a skilled local stonemason, balancing a sense of elegance and unexpectedness. Paired with our own ‘Lunetta Perch’ stools, featuring a linished stainless steel frame and luxurious leather cushions.
Nestled behind, bespoke steel doors enliven the climate-controlled wine room, their striking emerald tone set against bespoke bottle shelving and custom stone tiles, precisely cut and laid to create a detailed octagonal pattern.
The western wing houses a playful recreation room, complete with a custom pool table, bar and a bespoke window seat with integrated storage that runs wall to wall to capture the sweeping views to the valley below.
To the north the children’s bedrooms are situated side by side, each with walk through robes leading into their own ensuites.
Upstairs, the eastern wing is dedicated to a private main suite with elevated vistas. Soapy green onyx lines the walkways between the primary bedroom to the dressing room and ensuite, where marble floor slabs, bespoke steel doors and finely detailed mirror cabinets create a gentle and elegant mood.
The adjacent dressing room features a custom brass dresser, hand-finished to create a nuanced, deep bronze finish, accented by mirrored and grass cloth covered robe doors with strapped detailing.
With a seperate retreat and study located to the north overlooking the private gardens.
While the west hosts a guest wing including double accomodation suites, featuring calm and paired back finishes to create a serene place to rest and unwind.
Book ended with another lounge room dedicated to the families love of games and music to the north and a sophisticated home office tucked to the south.
A cinema, gym and sauna nestle into the basement, supporting relaxation and wellness, with direct lift access to the levels above.
At the front of the property, a north-facing living space connects to an outdoor terrace, pool and pool house that places the family’s love of entertaining front and centre.
Throughout, the home’s atmosphere has been enhanced with thoughtful curation of furniture and art, while seamlessly combining a selection of the clients’ existing sentimental pieces. Works by French artist Damien de Medeiros of Hermentaire take pride of place in the kitchen, formal lounge and master bedroom.
Vintage items from the likes of Nicholas and Alistair and Graham Geddes sit beside iconic Cassina and Kartell items and striking collectible designs, including works by Pierre Yovanovitch and Laura Gonzalez.
Local design pieces bring depth to the composition, featuring works from Henry Wilson, Daniel Barbera, Sophie Davies and our own Sally Caroline Collection including the Lunetta stool, rugs from the Odyssey Series and a preview of new metal furniture pieces currently under development.
This approach lends a relaxed, collected feel to the home, with capacity for the family to overlay the spaces with their evolving curiosities over time.
“Sally and her incredibly talented team were a pleasure to work with. The level of creativity that meticulously aligned to our intentions and their exceptional technical and project management skills were phenomenal.
We had an ambitious project with a defined timeframe and they did not fail to deliver on all fronts. Living in our new home brings us joy every day and the functionality cleverly built into key areas makes everyday living as smooth as possible without compromising on beauty.
Sally and her teams relationship with truely talented crafts people and suppliers both locally and internationally helped us to build a unique furniture and art collection that reflects our taste and many years spent living abroad.”
